and that makes me feel a little... crazy? no, crazy isn't the right word. whoa-ish? what's another word for whoa-ish?
my baby turned one. did i ever tell you how indie entered the world? i had a doctor's appointment at 4:30PM, didn't actually see the doctor until 5:30PM, went home for an hour and a half, turned right around and hopped a cab back to the hospital, arrived at 7:30PM but waited in triage for an hour to be admitted, waited an additional hour for the epidural (was dilated to a 9 by the time i got the drugs), winced a few times and around 10:30PM my little pastrami was born, pink and shrieking, and as soon as she was placed on my chest she peed and pooped all over me. sweet and charming she is, but docile she is not, and i submit to you that the day of the great haitian earthquake coinciding with the day of my indie-girl's birth is more than coincidental.
in completely unrelated news, i did this to my (great-grandma's) piano:
i hope grandma ethel isn't turning in her grave. blue always was her favorite color.

love the Indy and the piano. Great work on both!
Way to get after that cupcake Indy girl. That year flew by.
How big of a pain was it to paint that piano? I am contemplating getting an old one and doing the same... would you do it again?
Yes, please tell us how bad it was to paint the piano. I have the old one I grew up with & plan to do the same thing, once I find the right color! LOVE it.
And your little girl-- cutest.

Happy Happy Birthday! I want to squish her. And I may just adore that piano. And the lamps on top. Nicely done!
surreal? maybe the word is surreal. but i like woah-ish, too.

The last photo of Indie - perfection. Really.
I'm still obsessed with your piano. I remember when you were talking about doing it in NYC but wanted to avoid the fumes with Indie in the womb & what not.
